When I was trained by the Bright Heart Healing Institute, I learned the importance of this very large population and how they are impacting the massage therapy field. There are physical and mental changes that occur with aging, and I know how to properly adjust my adjust my techniques to accommodate both frail and robust seniors.
My massage would be best described as moderate in pressure, yet gentle. I always communicate about their level of comfort and customize my massage to meet their specific concerns. I found that as nurses, we fix and heal others. Everything goes in as a task and is structured, but no one is touching the patient! For me there is no greater joy than doing what I was called to do. Our patients are human and still need to know that they are valued whether they remember us or not.
